First Yellowstone Trip Thursday BLOG


I went to Yellowstone for my Hiking through the Geysers Class. I got some great photos, and tried some new photo takes that I've never done before. These included getting the stream photo below, with the slowed down water and clear rocks, which I really liked. I also got some night photos of the milky way that I really was excited for.

These are two photos that I had taken in September. I had put a different photo of the yellow eyed duck on the blog, but there was a yellow leaf behind his head that I couldn't edit out. So I had this one and I used the eraser tool to get a few leafs and dots out of the shot, and increased the color pop in his eye. The Canvas back with the red eye, I thought was a very good picture, because the red really stands out. Also the camera really focused in on the feathers of his wings, and the detail is just really nice.

Canon EOS Rebel.  18-55mm lens. Auto ISO. F16. AWB Landscape Mode. RAW. No Flash. AV: 0. This is one of my first sunset photos, and I had most of the settings just on Auto. I think having F at 16, helped capture the colors of this sunset. Canon EOS Rebel.  75-300mm lens. Auto ISO. F18. AWB Landscape Mode. RAW. No Flash. AV:0. I wish I had used my 18-55mm lens for this and captured more of the hotpots. But in the end I think the closeup of the blue, gives the photo a very abstract feel. Canon EOS Rebel.  75-300mm lens. Auto ISO. F22. AWB, Daylight Setting. Landscape Mode. RAW. No Flash. Av:0 I was messing around with the Settings and put it on daylight. This was the only photo I got of maverick in this position, and its a little dark. I think I should have changed the F stop to something lower

For this photo taken at the geysers in Yellowstone, I changed the tint and warmth of the photo. I added more  of a color pop in the blue of the water, because it wasn't as bright. I wish I had used my other lens, so that I could have gotten a wider shot, to get more of the trees in the background. I could crop it down, to just focus on the colors of the water, but I liked the way the tree trunks were bleached in this.
